At the Leibniz Center for Science and Society (LCSS), the research area “Methodology of Higher Education and Science Research” (Prof. Dr. Anna Kosmützky) invites applications for the position of a Research Assistant (m/f/d) for the joint research group T-PATHS: Knowledge Transfer on Cooperation Paths – Subproject Types, Contextual Conditions, and Potential for Interventions (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 80 %) starting at the earliest possible date. The position is initially limited to 3 years and has a scope of 80 % of the collectively agreed working hours. The opportunity for further qualification is given.

 

Project description

We are offering a project position in a geographically dispersed collaborative project team that is working on new and innovative grounds in social science transfer research. The research theme is at the interface of organizational research and higher education and science research; methodologically, we follow a mixed-method approach of qualitative case study research, bibliometric research, and network research. The position is based at LCSS in the research area “Methodology of Higher Education and Science Research”. We offer very good working conditions with the possibility for further qualification.

 

Responsibilities and duties

  • Preparation, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of case studies; collaboration with colleagues who conducts bibliometric research
  • Presentations on project results at national and international conference
  • Preparation of publications on project results in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Organization of workshops, discussion of results with relevant transfer actors
  • Support in the guidance and supervision of project members at the doctoral level
  • Regular presentations of the interim results, e.g., at meetings of the BMBF funding line

 

Employment conditions

The requirement for employment is a completed academic university degree in social science or natural science with an interest in researching natural science subjects and initial experience and interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and social science qualitative or quantitative research. Knowledge of organizational, higher education, or science research is desired. In the case of a social science degree, a doctorate relevant to the topic of the project is desirable. In this case, good knowledge of qualitative or quantitative methods of empirical social research, especially qualitative interviews or quantitative surveys, is also required. In addition, publication experience in peer-reviewed journals and experience in project work is required for degrees in both fields.

Also expected are excellent team and communication skills, above-average commitment and resilience, and the ability and willingness to work independently and on one’s responsibility in scientific work.

 

The work location is the Leibniz Center for Science and Society (LCSS), Leibniz University Hannover.
