Stellenangebot: Lecturer in the Humanities or Social Sciences (f/m/d) (100%), CODE Berlin

CODE is a new, ambitious university for technology and digital product design in Berlin, focusing on project-oriented and problem-based education. For our Science, Technology and Society Program (STS), we are looking for a Lecturer in the Humanities or Social Sciences (f/m/d).

We understand STS as a liberal arts program for digital pioneers that puts philosophy at the centre of an interdisciplinary program in the humanities and social sciences. It would be wonderful if you had both a serious dedication to scholarly work and practical experience outside academia.

As a Lecturer in the Humanities or Social Sciences (f/m/d), we’re ideally looking for someone from these areas of competence:

  • Political Science
  • Media Studies
  • Economics
  • Psychology

If you supplement this with practical experience from these domains, you’re likely to be precisely the sort of candidate we’re looking for:

  • IT (i.e. programming, sys admin, data science)
  • Policy Work (ideally digital policy)
  • Entrepreneurship, broadly understood
  • Journalism
  • Artistic Work

Generally, we welcome applicants from any field in the humanities, social sciences and arts.

Most importantly, we are looking for a wide range of intellectual interests, a love for the history of ideas and a connection to the digital present. We value unorthodox and independent thought, especially when it comes with the humility and competence to play the game of current scholarship. CODE is looking for creative, curious and responsive individuals who are happy to work together and identify with an institution where the land is still being laid. CODE is a teaching-focussed and engaging institution, and we want to make sure you can also grow as a researcher and have time to connect your own ideas and projects during your time with us.

Teaching positions at CODE also require the following:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline
  • Fluent English so that you can confidently teach in our Environment
  • The right to work and primary residence in Germany or the flexibility to move countries.
  • A German bank account to receive your salary into.
