Veranstaltung: Book club session on just sustainability, online, 29.01.2024, 5pm

On 29 January (5pm), we’ll discuss the book Insolvent: How to Reorient Computing for Just Sustainability with its author Christoph Becker in the context of Up to Date in STS: Early Career Reading Group. The discussion will take place via Zoom.

Christoph Becker is Associate Professor of Information, Director of the Digital Curation Institute, and a member of the School of the Environment at the University of Toronto. In Insolvent he asks and answers how we can enact meaningful change in computing to meet the urgent need for sustainability and justice.

Please note: the discussion is pre-orchestrated – a small group of us has prepared questions for discussion, which will kick off the meeting and shape large parts of the conversation. Further questions/comments can be posed if there’ll be enough time, but we cannot guarantee that.

The working group “Up to Date in STS” is a forum for early career researchers (postdocs and docs) who are interested in reading recently published or yet unpublished cutting-edge STS books/book manuscripts and discussing them with the respective authors on a regular basis.

If you are interested in joining this session and/or want to join the reading group, please contact Ruzana Liburkina (liburkina@soz.uni-frankfurt.de) and Patrick Bieler (patrick.bieler@tum.de).
